What Say You?

Anyone that follows their tweets knows that Robin Smith, the knuckle-dragging teabagger of a candidate in Tennessee’s Third Congressional District, and Zach Wallace, the Mighty Mouse of East Tennessee conservatism, spend a great deal of their time railing about government spending and pinko commie ideas like renewable energy.

Get off our federalism, you Nazi, communist, socialist, facist, Luddite, Bull Moose, you!

Get off our federalism, you Nazi, communist, socialist, facist, Luddite, Bull Moose, you!

But Chattanooga, the largest city in the Third District and Zach’s hometown, is a national leader in the move to get our cities off our current antiquated electricity grid and onto “smart grid” technology. In fact, the United States Department of Energy announced this week that it will give Chattanooga’s EPB “$111 million in federal stimulus funds to help pay for part of nearly $300 million that the company is investing in fiber-optic lines, new electric-grid technologies and ’smart meters.’”

This, No Chaser believes, exemplifies everything that Smith and Wamp claim they hate: that damn socialistic federal government is stomping all over the 10th Amendment by marching into Chattanooga — probably came through Chickamauga, no less — and throwing around their damn ol’ stimulus money. That’s taxpayer money, don’t you know, and that damn Obama is spending it on some greenie bullshit.

What’s a good, God-fearing Tennessean supposed to think about that, huh? Are we meeting at the state line, Zach and Robin, to tell those stinkin’ feds to take that grant and shove it? How ’bout it?
