Who Are These People?

"You must destroy the ring, Frodo!"

McKensie Morrison’s husband, the one I think she’s still married to, has a half-eaten corndog tattooed on his foot. Prison records say so. Read them. You’ll see.

That’s a half-eaten corndog.

Tattoo.

On his foot.

I don’t know why anyone would have a tattoo of a half-eaten corndog anywhere on his or her body. Frankly, I don’t care to know why. However, this detail highlights a troubling aspect of the freak show that has become Senator Paul Stanley’s unravelling political career:

McKensie Morrison and Joel Watts are just stupid kids.

Before anyone jumps to conclusions, that doesn’t absolve them of guilt. Even stupid kids should know that extortion is illegal. Even stupid kids should know that having an affair with your married boss is wrong. In fact, I believe they were both fully aware they were outside the bounds of acceptable behavior. They chose to go there anyway.

But stupid kids do stupid things.

On the other hand, Tennessee State Sen. Paul Stanley — 47-year-old, married, father-of-two State Sen. Paul Stanley — should have known better. Stanley never should have begun his seduction of Morrison, or he should have put the kibosh on her flirtations with him, whichever the case might have been.

If Stanley had acted like the adult in the situation, which he was, then we wouldn’t be counting the hours until his resignation from the Senate. One stupid kid wouldn’t be facing extortion charges. Another stupid kid wouldn’t be watching her life turn into an episode of Springer, without anyone hurling chairs — yet.

If Stanley had acted like the adult he is, quite a few lives would be quite a bit better today.

UPDATE: Aunt B is thinking along the same lines, and she kicks it up two or three notches.

  • All part of the process of putting together this think tank . . . or whatever it morphs in to. Looking into different business models and putting the pieces in place.

Obviously, “No Chaser” is still under construction, but it’s a very valuable piece of the puzzle. Hope it can add some worthwhile to the conversation.

  • I’m digging it. :)

  • Thanks. Spread the word.
